Every once in awhile I come across well-meaning people.

They are not Certified Life Coaches or Therapists.

They have other careers in which they are successful.

They have:

  • Been to a workshop.
  • Read some books.
  • Had an ah-ha experience.
  • Learned things.

They want to make a difference.

So, they decided they will coach people.

Understand they are not coaching in their field of expertise.

They are deciding to present themselves as a life coach.

I also see this happen with well-meaning friends and family members of clients.

I understand their hearts are in the right place.

But here is the problem with this:

They don’t have any training.

They don’t understand the importance of:

  • Staying neutral.
  • Not giving advice.
  • Not having an agenda.

In most cases these well-intentioned people are:

  • Telling you what to do and not do.
  • Giving you advice.

This will not help you.

This will not heal you.

This will not solve your problem.

This will not give the results you desire.

Because each person’s answers and path are unique to them.

When I write my blog for you to read.

I am not coaching you.

I am giving you information to consider and tools to use.

But I am not coaching you.

Coaching you is a totally different process.

When I coach you, my only job is help you find your own answers.

I do this by helping you learn to notice and examine your:

  • Thoughts
  • Feelings
  • Actions
  • Results

In order to do this, I must stay neutral.

I cannot have an agenda or desired outcome for you.

I cannot give you advice or tell you what to do or not do.

Only you know the answers that are right for you.

I can hear you say: “But I don’t know the answers.”

“If I did, I would fix the problem I am having.”

I understand it seems like that.

But that is only because all your:

  • Thoughts
  • Feelings
  • Actions
  • Results
  • Self-judgments
  • Other’s judgments and opinions

Are all tangled up in your brain.

My job is to help you untangle them.

When I do that, you can easily find your answer.

So please don’t settle for someone:

  • Telling you what to do.
  • Giving you advice.

When you do that you give away all your power.

Instead find out what it is like to:

  • Take back your power.
  • Notice your own thinking.
  • Make powerful decisions that work for you.
